ILA 2010 is the essential trade show for the space industry
ILA Space Pavilion demonstrates the importance of space flight for our daily lives – Prominent industry representatives at the ILA SPACE DAY II –
ILA Space World features international space industry companies
Berlin, 11 March 2010 – The “Space Flight” section featuring informative displays which are also intended to appeal to the general public makes the ILA 2010 unique among aerospace trade shows. The Berlin Air Show will be adding to its international dimension from 8 to 13 June with its “Space flight under one roof” approach. The Space Flight section in Hall 9 on the south side of Berlin-Schönefeld Airport comprises the ILA Space Pavilion, which is directly linked with the Space Conference Area, and the ILA Space World. This aspect of the International Aerospace Exhibition reflects the wide scope of European activities in the space sector, and underlines the importance of this event as this year's leading meeting place for decision-makers from politics, industry, agencies, research and science, as well as for civilian and military users.
ILA Space Pavilion: “Our Mission: The Planet”
The ILA Space Pavilio, is supported by the European Space Agency ESA, Germany’s Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology BMWi, the German Aerospace Centre DLR and the German Aerospace Industries Association BDLI, and at the ILA 2010 it will be focusing on the main European and German space programmes. Under the slogan “Our Mission: The Planet” the Space Pavilion will address such applications of space technology as “Earth Observation”, “Navigation” and “Telecommunications” as well as those areas of space flight concerned with “Science”, “Exploration”, “Manned Space Flight/ISS” and “Access to Space”.
How can the “Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES)” initiative of the European Space Agency ESA and the European Commission help to protect the earth and what role is being played by the German radar satellite TerraSAR-X? What are Germany’s particular capabilities in the field of satellite communication and what new techno-logical advances are currently in preparation? How does the European satellite navigation system GALILEO operate, and why is it so important for Europe to be able to master this technology? Why is space robotics one of the key technologies for Germany as a business location, and how can it act as a springboard for terrestrial applications? With its fascinating exhibits and wide range of information the ILA Space Pavilion will provide the answers.
Visitors can expect an exhibition with an emotional impact that brings space travel tantalisingly close and focuses on the benefits that this technology will bring for the earth and its inhabitants. Examples of actual hardware, including an original thrust unit from the Ariane 5 launch vehicle, will give added emphasis to the “Space Flight Experience”.
Space flight conferences with prominent contributors
Supplementing the exhibition on the ILA trade visitor days (8-10 June) will be a number of events and conferences in the Space Conference Area with many prominent participants. One of the outstanding events will be the ILA SPACE DAY II on 10 June, supported by the European Space Agency ESA, the International Astronautical Federation IAF, the German Aerospace Centre DLR and the German Aerospace Industries Association BDLI. Among the high-ranking contributors to this space industry conference will be the heads of space agencies and the representatives of such organisations from the USA, Russia, China and Japan. The Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, Rainer Brüderle, has agreed to act as patron.
On 9 June the Earth Observation Conference will be dealing with a number of issues including global climate change, and will be showing the potential offered by space flight for the early identification of global changes and for taking corrective action.
ILA Space World: Exclusive display devoted to space flight
Visitors will also be able to obtain additional information from the Space Pavilion in the adjoining Hall 9. Under the heading of “ILA Space World” the partners in the Space Pavilion such as the DLR and numerous companies from the German space industry will also be represented, along with the exhibition stands of international space agencies and organisations and the international space industry. As a “fair within the fair” the ILA Space World serves as an exclusive display for the space sector. Furthermore the ILA is the only trade show anywhere in Europe with a separate display area dedicated to space agencies and the space industry.
