Europe shows its capabilities. Air transport is growing dynamically. Economically strengthened airlines are investing again. Fleets are being modernized. Airports are being developed. Dynamics, too, in the defense and security sector. New missions types and scenarios speed up the introduction of new weapon systems and innovative equipment. New markets for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV and UCAV) are emerging. Europe’s spaceflight sector is growing as well. Space applications have become indispensable tools in the civil and military sectors. International comparison shows that particularly business aviation in Germany is growing rapidly.
 
An important aspect for the supply industry: the purchasing policy of the leading OEMs undergoes radical changes. Never before have European OEMs sub-contracted so many large-volume program parts to suppliers. New programs also lead to a reorganization of the supply chains. The new International Suppliers Center, ISC, fully integrates the supply industry into ILA on all levels. This ensures best trade show efficiency and reduces the cost of pan-European marketing.

Europe is leading in the introduction of new aerospace products. There is no other region where so many new, technologically ambitious programs such as A400M, A350XBW, A380 and A380F were launched in the recent past than in Europe. In the military sector, programs such as MEADS and EuroHawk are marking the move into new technologies. With the Eurofighter, the Tiger combat helicopter and the NH90 transport helicopter, the world’s most modern weapon systems are under production. And Europe is developing its own, satellite-based navigation system with a large variety of new applications – Galileo.
 
The Berlin Air Show is indeed the perfect showcase for presenting new programs and highly efficient maintenance concepts.
