A great opportunity, to get young people in touch with the various perspectives given in the aviation and aerospace industry, one of the most important groth sectors.

The lack of qualifi ed employees, especially those who are trained in science and mathematics, has become a serious problem especially in technological demanding economic sectors. Therefore, I welcome the decision of the BDLI and the aerospace industry to use the ILA Berlin Air Show to attract more young professionals.

The CareerCenter of the ILA2008 provides an excellent forum to encourage enthusiasm for a profession in the growing aerospace industry. Small- and mediumsized companies as well as the large aerospace enterprises can use the ILA platform to make early contact with young people and help point the way to skilled and qualifi ed employees of the future. The aerospace industry has been growing steadily for years both in the national and around the globe. The extraordinary high investment.

in research and development by high-tech industries has created growth and employment in Germany. More than 70 percent of the products produced by this growth are exported into foreign countries: a strong indicator of the strengths of German’s aerospace industry.

We must direct our attention to attract highly qualified young employees, in order to protect Germany as a global technology leader. Excellent standards in apprenticeship and academic education are crucial. At the same time the aerospace companies must aggressively recruit and attract young qualifi ed employees.
Thus, it is a great pleasure for me to support the CareerCenter of the ILA2008 and I offer my best wishes for great success to all participants.

Aerospace Industry: Driving Force of Modern Technology and New Jobs of the 21st Century

The continuous debate about a lack of engineers and skilled workers shows the necessity to make an effort to attract young professionals also in our fi eld. That is why there will again be a CareerCenter at the ILA Berlin Air Show 2008. The ILA in Berlin offers an excellent platform to bring together people and companies interested in the aerospace industry. Whether pupil, student, young professional or qualifi ed employee - the CareerCenter offers everyone the opportunity to get well informed about career prospects and to establish personal contact to potential employers. Lectures, company presentations and job application coaching will complete the programme.
The aerospace industry is a fast growing and fascinating high-tech industry sector and it will create even more qualifi ed jobs in the years to come. I am very much looking forward to a vivid participation and a successful CareerCenter@ILA2008!
